BEFORE/AFTER
Below are examples of Delia’s work:

Since I’ve lived in the East Bay, I’ve been looking for a good salon and Sole Salon was recommended to me by a friend. For someone who is far too familiar with hideous haircuts, it was no surprise that I was skeptical about trying out a new salon and paying big bucks for a haircut my 5 year old cousin could probably do. Fortunately, Sole Salon knows a thing or two about cutting/styling hair. I have nothing negative to say about the entire experience.
When you walk in, you’re greeted with a smile and a calming atmosphere. You almost feel like you’re in a day spa rather than a salon. They guide you into a private, curtained-off area to place your things and put on the black hairdresser smock. As you wait in the salon area for your appointment, they give you tea/water, which was perfect for calming my pre-haircut jitters. They also give you a short written survey so your hairdresser can tailor the haircut to your lifestyle and maintenance routine (types of products you use, how often you wash, etc). DELIA was amazing! She was young and hip and did a wonderful job of really understanding what I wanted. I wanted to go short, but was traumatized by past haircut heartbreaks. Considerate of my apprehension, Delia suggested a short haircut, but said she would leave my front strands a bit longer so I wouldn’t entirely miss the length I was used to. I gave her the green light and the rest is history. Best haircut I’ve gotten. Needless to say, I turned a few heads as I walked out of this place.
From tea to head massages while shampooing your hair, you will leave here feeling refreshed and free of post-haircut remorse. Prices are reasonable, too. I’ll definitely be back for my next haircut.

Yes I would go back…but I no longer have hair.
Not that I have the experience with many of these places to compare, but it was a good one. Prices are fair, staff is very nice. Place is very clean. I just didn’t know what to do with the smock.

Sole’ is my new find in the Bay Street mall in Emeryville. It’s an Aveda salon tucked away in the less busy part of the mall, right across from the Gap. The salon is clean and the staff is friendly. Parking is convenient and it’s been easy to schedule appointments. Prices are reasonable.
Delia is great at cutting and styling my thick, frizzy, Asian hair. She always manages to make my hair look smooth and shiny. I’ve gotten two haircuts from her in the last few months and both times have been great! Delia is friendly and doesn’t try to sell you products but will make product suggestions if you ask for them. She charge $45 which is reasonably for a great haircut. I highly recommend Delia!
(Bonus: Delia also works at Sephora in SF so is knowledgeable about skincare and cosmetic products. I got some great suggestions on eye cream and lip gloss while getting my haircut!)
I went to Carmen for the first time yesterday for a brow wax. She was meticulous and really took her time to shape my brows. I would go back to her again.
Overall, I’ve been happy with Sole’. This salon’ is quickly becoming my regular place to visit for my beauty needs. It’s worth a try if you have not been there. One of these days, I want to try one of the facials.

Delia rocks! After my wedding I wanted to chop off my hair. I went in thinking just to bring up my mid back length hair up to my shoulders but then changed my mind mid cut! (Del must hate me- bad client, bad client!) I was reading a magazine and saw a cute short cut. Without trying persuade me otherwise, she offered a few suggestions and cut away! She is super fast and knowledgeable and really works with you to give suggestions but also to get you what you want! I took off about 8 inches off my hair and I LOVE my cut!
Thanks Delia!

After being butched a number of times by would-be , Attitude heavy fashionistas who couldn’t care less if I was happy with my hair, Sole Salon on Bay street was an absolute godsend. Not only did they fit me into the next day with no attitude, but they were super nice & professional on the phone while doing it . ( none of that snooty salon attitude here )
I got an appointment with the Vivacious Mz.Delia. She was an absolute joy to work with. She very calmy accepted the fact that I had come with an almost power point presentation of what I wanted my hair to be. She did not chastise me for coloring it myself, or try any of the strong armtactics I’ve sen in other salons ( Hey Festoon, are you listening -cause you suck out loud!!)
And when I walked away,I’d had a great cup of tea, been treated warmly by their recieptionist ( who is sporting an ultra cool short cut ) and left with an absolutely awesome haircut. All of this for a mere $35.00 -less than I pay for coffee a month !!
I cannot tell you how much I appreciated their friendliness, professionalisom & prowrese with the shears. They were all great-teamwork & quality are the benchmarks of every great business & Sole definitely has both. In 6-8 weeksI will be back for more
Peace !!!

We come together
‘Cause opposites attract
Sole Salon adds some much needed crunch to the white bread Bay Street Mall. It’s calm and inviting decor whispers “serenity” as it competes with big placard signs advertising “4 DAYS UNTIL XMAS BUY 3FOR$25 GAP SOCKS!”
Everyone says this, but I really don’t give that big a shit about my hair. 90% of the time, these days, I just let it do whatever it does on its own, even if that means I have scary cat lady hair. So I wanted a manageable cut to help me as I grow my once-sexy shag into something longer and more glamorous.
Delia was a wonderful stylist and did an excellent job. I have no idea what to do with my hair, and she gave some great suggestions as to how to grow it out. She only recently became a stylist, but you’d guess she had been doing it for years as she gave an awesome energizing scalp massage prior to the wash and cut.
But really, what impressed me most about this salon was that it was FRIENDLY and AFFORDABLE. All in all, I spent $55 (incl. tip) for my cut – very very manageable. And even better, Delia was incredibly easy to talk to. Most of the time there can be a lot of awkward silences or weird looks from the stylist, but she and I talked about all sorts of things.
I was convinced that to get a good cut in the Bay Area I needed to spends hundreds of dollars (which I’ve done), but Sole Salon proved me wrong. I was sure that a salon couldn’t embrace such seemingly incompatible attributes, but it combines relaxation, efficiency, and talent brilliantly, and I think I’ve found a new standby.

Today was my first visit to Sole. Delia did a great job, was really good about explaining what she was doing and making sure I was comfortable with the cut. The salon itself is very laid back, and I love the chairs (very comfortable). An added bonus for us tall girls–the hair wash stations have movable bowls! No more scooting to the edge of the chair awkwardly while praying for the hair washing to finish. Aside from the cut, I appreciated that I wasn’t pushed to rebook an appointment or buy lots of products. Delia also styled my hair in a natural way–I didn’t look like I came from the salon, just that I had a really really good hair day.
On a side note, I had a chiropractor appointment a few hours after my cut, and my chiropractor went on and on about how good it looked. She said she sees a lot of bad cuts with her job. I’m glad to know that it still sat well after real life wear and tear and a spinal adjustment!
That said, I highly recommend Sole (especially if you have long fine hair) and Delia. Try her out now while she’s still at the apprentice rate. It’s a steal!

After going to Sole Salon Ive never had so many complements on a haircut. Delia cut my hair and I loved her! I went in there not completely sure of what I wanted to do and she made some great suggestions and I couldn’t be happier. She knew what was best for my hair type and it still keeps a great shape even two weeks later.

I haven’t had a haircut in a long time so I was really excited to finally get my hair cut. Delia gave me a fabulous cut that I love more every day! She was professional, friendly and very skilled with those shears. I can’t wait to go back!

Nicest Aveda salon in the east bay. Quality highlights.
I swear by Aveda. When I moved to the east bay from out of state I tried several Aveda salons and found Delia at Sole, who has been doing my highlights for over 2 years now. She totally rocks! I get so many complements on my color. I have had a couple of bad dye jobs in my day so I am fortunate to have found someone who I trust with my hair. I now live in San Francisco and she is worth the drive!

I’ve had 3 great experiences with Delia and will return. She is a fantastic stylist! She did a great job on really doing what would work with my extremely thick hair. I feel so much lighter now! I even got compliments on my new style…which would make anyone feel good.

I’ve been going to Sole for over 2 years and I’m still just as in love with this place as I was when I walked in. My stylist has changed to Delia, who I met with after Abbie cut my hair. My sweet baby, Delia has taken such great care of my hair! I’ve referred many of my colleagues and they’ve all been happy customers as well. I always get exactly what I ask for, even if it’s been 4 months since my last haircut. I swear she knows the shape of my head like her own hand. I will continue to recommend Sole Salon for their professionalism, upbeat atmosphere and extremely talented staff. Cheers- AY
